Brisbane Olympic United Soccer and Sporting Club Inc. began operation in 1967. In its early years the club was simply called Olympic Soccer Club and it played its games out of Dutton Park. The Club had no junior teams until the 1980 season when they formed an under 12 and 14 side. In 1981, Olympic amalgamated with St. George South’s ( formally Hellenic FC ) to become Olympic United Soccer Club. Since then the club has had several junior sides from under 7’s to Junior Colts, playing in the highest divisions with the Brisbane Southern Districts Junior Soccer Association. Olympic Soccer Club rose rapidly through the ranks of the Queensland Soccer Federation, earning promotion at a fairly quick pace. In 1982, Olympic United was asked to join the State League and when that competition was changed by the Queensland Soccer Federation in 1983, it became one of the first members of the inaugural Premier League Competition. 1983 saw Olympic’s greatest success. Olympic came second to Mt Gravatt but beat Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final. Olympic suffered relegation at the end of the 1990 Premier League season. Since then, Olympic United Soccer has spent the past 16 seasons in the first division trying to achieve its ultimate dream of once again playing in the Brisbane Elite competition. Our Location Goodwin Park is located on the western side of Cansdale Street (between Brisbane Corso and Hyde Road), at Yeronga. Opposite the park is Yeronga AFL Club and around the corner on Hyde Road is Souths Cricket Club and the RSPCA ![]() |
