SUPER METS JUMP TO 2ND SPOT

After a few weeks of indifferent results Brisbane Olympics Metro 2 side punished the Gap in a 2nd half onslaught. With the top of the table congested with 5 teams only 3 points apart a win was needed against the Gap. The game started at high pace with no team really getting control of the play with the gap coming out fast to try and unsettle the Olympic defence. After about 15-20 mins of end to end play with no real shot on goal Olympic started to dominate in defence and midfield and knock the ball around spreading the gap defence. With boumba controlling the back line it freed the other 3 backs danny, mark and kris to start bring the midfield into play with some neat passing to doran and alex. Gaps started to appear in the gap defence and a with a few soft efforts which didn’t test the keeper in roads were being made. The first real chance fell to eggy when a well weighted ball from danny in defence found him one on one with the keeper only to miss the target. Olympics keeper was reduced to only catching crosses for the most part of the first half. The break through came with about 5 mins to half time when keichi was fowled on the sideline after some neat build up play. Kris delivered the perfect defence slicing ball to the back post for danny to beat his defender and slot home. Half time 1-0 olympic The second half started in spectacular fashion with Olympic pushing forward and pressing the gap defence who did well to scramble and clear in desperation. After about 10mins a clearance fell to bobby on the sideline which he hit first time at what appeared to be a cross ended dipping and curving into the top of the net beating the stranded keeper 2-0. from this point alex and doran and lui dominated the middle of the park with kozzie and eggy causing trouble for the gap upfront. The third goal fell to bobby who finished off a one on one after a great team build up starting from the back and a great through ball from midfield 3-0. at this point gap started to get some fresh legs and pushed hard for a goal and really started to put some pressure on the Olympic defence but they could not get a shot on with alex k only collecting the crosses. The fourth came from a free kick 35m out when danny struck a rifled shot to the back post for a header only for the keeper to not handle it and it ended up in the back of the net…….who would have though a keeper could score a goal let alone 2J but kozzie must be mentione as his pressure put the keeper in two minds 4-0. which soon became 5-0 with corneliou finishing off a great cross from bobby. Keichi put the icing on the cake beating the offside trap and coolly finishing 6-0. the gap kept applying pressure but could not crack the defence and Olympic had the opportunities to put a few more on the board………..well done all the lads.
