2008 Presidents Message

The 2008 soccer season is shaping up to be one of the most exciting in this club’s history. Not only does Olympic return to finally play in Brisbane’s Premier elite competition but our club has also nominated and been accepted to participate in the new Queensland State League which will kick off in March, 2008. In addition to this, our new facilities at Goodwin Park are set to be completed by mid February, 2008. Olympic will be the proud owners of a new clubhouse and functions centre, new car parking facilities, a new 500 seat grandstand, three new playing fields, four new dressing rooms, new lights, underground watering systems, and a gym. Making Goodwin Park one of the best sporting grounds in Queensland. The committee has been working tirelessly in the off season to ensure that preparation for the new season runs as smoothly as possible. We have updated our website and our handbook and have streamlined our registration procedures. The Committee and I, would like to welcome all our players to what is going to be a wonderful and exciting year. We thank all our players and parents for their valued support and encourage you all to enjoy the opportunities that your children will have playing for this club. We will endeavour to do everything in our power to make your experiences with our club fond and memorable. Experiences that we hope you can share with others in the Brisbane Football family, because there’s nothing better than having satisfied parents singing the club’s praises to other people in the football community. Olympic is always striving to give its players the best coaching available. And as a result we are continually giving our fathers and coaches the opportunity to upgrade or receive coaching accreditation for the coaching that they are doing for the club. To encourage our coaches to get these valuable certificates, the Club is willing to pay for the cost of this accreditation. If there are parents and current coaches that would like to take this opportunity then don’t hesitate to ask the club for further information. Continuing the initiatives begun back in 2005, Olympic will in 2009 introduce a soccer academy to Goodwin Park. This will give our players and players from within the Brisbane Football community an opportunity to become better players that will eventually play semi professional football for Olympic.
